EYE TESTS IN PELSALL
At Martin Wheeler Optometrists, we believe in taking the care your eyes deserve and do not rush our eye examinations. During your eye examination, there is time for our optometrist to thoroughly inspect your eyes and vision.
We will ask you to complete a number of tests, including one designed to assess whether you're long or short-sighted. These aren't difficult or painful in any respect, however, they're vital for our optometrist to be capable of correctly prescribing any glasses, should correction to your vision needed.
The health of your eyes is just as important as your vision. We can also photograph your retina during your visit, providing an accurate assessment of your eye health.
Your appointment with us allows enough time for our optometrist to explain the results of your eye test, and advise you on the next steps required.
OCT TECHNOLOGY
OCT, Ocular Coherence Tomography, is an advanced eye scan that allows our Optometrist to see both the back of your eye and a three dimensional image that looks below the surface.
The OCT is a medical-grade test used to examine the retina and optical nerve. It is similar to an ultrasound but uses light instead of sound waves to illustrate the different layers that make up the back of the eye. It is also used to capture a digital photograph of the eye at the exact same time. Cross-referencing these photographs allows us to see exactly what is going on inside your eyes.
An OCT scan can help to detect eye conditions like glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy. Because eye disease can occur without any significant symptoms, we recommend an OCT scan even when your eyes are healthy in order to provide a baseline image that we can compare for changes each time you visit us for an eye examination.
MYOPIA
CONTROL
Myopia, also known as short-sightedness, can begin in childhood and lead to a dependence on corrective eyewear such as glasses or contact lenses to be able to see clearly.
Martin Wheeler Optometrists offer myopia management options for children, such as contact lenses or spectacle lenses, to help slow the progression of myopia. Eyes with a high degree of myopia are at an increased risk of developing a serious condition like retinal detachment or glaucoma later on in life.
EMERGENCY EYECARE
Optometrists are extremely well placed within the community to deal with emergencies quickly and effectively. We have the training, equipment and access to wider referral pathways to enable us to make quick decisions that can often prove to be sight saving.
If you are experiencing pain, discomfort, redness, swelling, sudden changes to your vision or any other issue with your eyes that is concerning you, do not hesitate to contact us for an emergency eyecare appointment.
